Meet the Wildlife

Lillooet contains many diverse habitats thanks in part to its unique geologic history. When you combine some of the tallest mountains in British Columbia with the deepest canyons, this creates an incredible range of elevations enabling many different habitats to form and evolve. Because of this, Lillooet is lucky to be home to a rich diversity of wildlife species and we want you to get to know more closely.

Our featured wildlife include plants, fish/amphibians, mammals, and of course many birds! Be sure to view the stunning photographs of every species – each one captured by award-winning and talented local photographers right here in the Lillooet region. A special thank you to photographers, Ian Routley, Jess Findlay, Jared Hobbs, and Robin Naidoo for contributing their work to this educational project. Be sure to check out and support their work!

We wanted it to be fun for you to learn about Lillooet’s wildlife. That’s why we created this Awareness Index containing cartoons of each animal and placed them on cue cards.  Our top 16 species are featured below. We are adding new species all the time, so remember to come back to Lillooet Wild and get to know a growing list of species who call Lillooet home.
